Etiquette

My family and I were in an elevator and a guy got a phone call.  Now, we know that elevators are small spaces, and are very short rides even in the tallest building.  Why did this guy answer that call?  It was only a 30 second ride!

During that ride, I was asking my mother a question and she shushed me.  What? Don’t shush me because this person is talking on his cell phone during our 30 second ride on a very closed-in elevator!  What if there were others on the elevator like him? We would have had to listen to these people talk over each other AND listen to conversations that were totally irrelevant to us.

People, be considerate of others on the elevator. You wouldn’t want to hear our conversations; we don’t want to hear yours!

I feel a cartoon in my future, and sponsorship is needed for comedy writing classes at Second City in Chicago.  Second City was recommended to me by Johanna Stein, a writer who wrote an episode for my favorite cartoon, The Emperor’s New School.  Now, I have to make that happen.  I will need $2,000 for the first set of classes.  I will be able to pay after that session because my blog and writing business will start growing.  In the meantime, I need to get to started.  If anyone can help me, I’ll pay it back.  I just don’ t know when.

Why do people show up late to events and expect good seats?  It is not impossible to get individual seats after a certain time, but you cannot go prancing into events an hour late with your girls (yes, that’s more than one), and expect to sit down.  Unless you know someone.  Even then that may not work because if someone took the time to be on time, they are not losing seats.

So, tardy people, keep your tardy butts in the back of the room where you should be until you learn how to be on time.
